WHAT IS MIRACOOL?
MiraCool products are a line of water-activated cooling accessories that can be worn at work or play, indoors or out. Available in over 35 colors and prints, MiraCool products appear to be a fashion accessory, yet they serve a real function in keeping the wearer feeling and looking cool.
Encased within each MiraCool product, made of colorful 100% cotton, are super- absorbent polymer crystals. The crystals work just by soaking them in water and stay plump and hydrated for up to two full days. The crystals retain the coolness of the water and work in combination with the evaporation process against the skin to keep the wearer cool.
WHAT MAKES MIRACOOL PRODUCTS SO EFFECTIVE?
When the body's temperature rises above the upper limits of its average range, the temperature of the blood also rises. The brain detects this change and sends more blood toward the skin, releasing heat to the cooler air.
When the body is placed in a hot humid environment, the hot air limits the amount of body heat that can escape through the skin. In fact if the air temperature is higher than the body temperature, heat will be absorbed into the body instead of being released.
While cool beverages work from the inside out, MiraCool products work from the ouside in to cool the blood and body. The cooling sensations pass to pulse points and other blood vessels and are effectively carried throughout the body. Just as perspiration creates a lower-than-air-temperature cooling effect on the skin, the constant evaporation process causes the MiraCool product to be about 10ºF to 15ºF below air temperature.
HOW LONG WILL MIRACOOL PRODUCTS STAY COOL?
As long as there is some hydration in the product, it will feel cool against the skin, usually for two full days. After a period of time, MiraCool products are still cooling but may not be perceived as such. In this case, wearing the bandana as a headband, and the headband as a bandana, or simply turning the product over occasionally will refresh the sensations. Even though the side against the body is cooling, the other side is often cooler from being exposed to air movement.
ARE MIRACOOL PRODUCTS REUSABLE?
MiraCool crystals work without refrigeration or ice and are reusable thousands of times, as long as they are cared for according to the instructions. After about two days, the crystals will need rehydrating as the evaporation process is continuously returning them to their original, dry state. MiraCool products can be rehydrated at any time to plump the crystals back up and to bring the termperature down. TIP: A previously hydrated MiraCool product can also be placed under cold water or placed in a cooler with ice water for a minute or two to further lower the temperature and achieve a colder effect. Do NOT place in freezer.
